Alcoholic beverages (including mixed drinks, beer, wine and champagne) may be served under the terms and conditions consistent with the laws of the State of North Carolina and the policies of the University and the Center. The Center has obtained a "special occasions" permit as a convention center, under State regulations.
- No direct or indirect sale of alcoholic beverages will be permitted (i.e., no cash bars).
- Receptions and socials serving alcoholic beverages are limited to 2 1/2 hours.
- Heavy hors d'oeuvres must be served at all receptions and social hours at which alcoholic beverages are served.
- The caterer, not the user group, must provide a bartender for mixed-drink receptions and socials.
- Alcoholic beverages must be provided by the user group (brown bagging is not permitted); however, those caterers having permits allowing them to transport alcoholic beverages may provide such beverages as allowed by permit.
- User groups (or their caterers, if permissible) must remove all remaining alcoholic beverages upon conclusion of the function, as they cannot be stored at the Center according to University regulations.
- It is the responsibility of a designated representative of the user group to ensure that no one under the age of 21 is in an area where alcoholic beverages are being served.
- A representative of the user group must sign a statement indicating that they assume responsibility for compliance with such laws and policies as stated above.

| All meals and receptions/social hours, must be arranged with an approved caterer, those caterers being listed on the Kenan Center Approved Caterers List.
